Mycopunk Co-op, Crossplay Status and System Requirements
Mycopunk is four-player online co-op on Windows only. The store lists Online Co-Op but no local co-op or split-screen, voice chat runs through the Discord SDK, and there is no console or crossplay release to plan around. Minimum spec is a GTX 960 for 1080p at 30 FPS on Low.
Mycopunk is a four-player online co-op game on Windows, and the store page is unusually precise about what it does and does not support. Before you buy a second copy for a friend or plan around a console release, here is exactly what is on the page and what the 1.0 notes add.

Co-op at a glance
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Online co-op | Yes, up to 4 players |
| Single-player | Yes, fully supported |
| Local co-op / split-screen | Not listed on the store page |
| Crossplay | No console version announced, so nothing to cross play with |
| In-game voice chat | Yes, implemented via the Discord SDK |
| Controller support | Full, including DualShock and DualSense |
| Steam Cloud | Yes |
| Family Sharing | Yes |
The "full crew" experience is the intended one: the achievement for completing a mission with four different employees in your crew exists because the game expects class variety. But solo is not a compromised mode — 1.0 specifically lowered the maximum enemy count for solo play on threat 3 and 4, which is the clearest sign the developers tune for solo players too.
Crossplay, in practical terms
There is no PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version of Mycopunk. The store lists Windows only, and the developer's 1.0 posts talk about regions, upgrades and balance — not platforms. So the crossplay question resolves to: everyone you play with needs the Steam version on Windows.
If a page or video tells you Mycopunk is coming to PS5 or is on PlayStation Plus, treat it as speculation, not news. There is no announcement to point at, and the store metadata says Windows only.
Voice chat and communication
Voice runs through Discord's SDK, which means the game is using Discord's voice infrastructure rather than its own. In practice, that is good news: it works, it has a push-to-talk binding, and 1.0 added a setting to choose your voice chat input device.
There is also a quip wheel, and 1.0 improved its controller interaction and moved weapon inspection onto it for controller players. If you play with randoms and do not want to talk, the quip wheel is the intended substitute.
System requirements
Straight from the store page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 x64 | Windows 11 x64 |
| CPU | Intel Core i3-610 / AMD FX-8350 | Intel Core i7-6700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| RAM | 8 GB | Not separately listed |
| GPU | GeForce GTX 960 / Radeon R9 380 / Arc A380 | GeForce RTX 2080 / Radeon RX 5700 XT / Arc A750 |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| Network | Broadband | Broadband |
| Target | 1080p, Low, 30 FPS | 1080p, High, 60 FPS |
Two things stand out. The gap between minimum and recommended GPU is large — a GTX 960 versus an RTX 2080 — which is typical of a game whose later regions throw a lot of enemies and effects at the screen. And the recommendation explicitly says 1080p at 60, not 1440p: there is no published 1440p or 4K target, so if you are on a high-resolution display, expect to tune settings rather than trust the label.
Players report the game running smoothly on hardware that is not usually considered a gaming machine, which fits the modest minimum spec. If you are below the minimum GPU, the likely pain points are the Swamp and X11-B, where foliage and effects density are highest.
Settings worth touching on day one
- Resolution and aspect ratio. The game does not always detect the correct display on first launch. Set it manually before your first mission.
- HUD UI antialiasing. Added in 1.0, off by default in the graphics settings. Turn it on if the HUD text looks jagged.
- Damage numbers and text callouts. 1.0 split these into separate toggles in the gameplay options. If the screen feels noisy, turn off the text callouts first — they are the ones that stack in a crowd.
- Texture streaming budget. Defaults to 4096 MB when the game cannot detect your VRAM on first launch. On a 4 GB card, lower it.
Playing with friends: the practical setup
- One player hosts, everyone else joins the lobby.
- The lobby shows threat level and modifiers before launch, so agree on both before you drop.
- Loadouts are per-player and per-employee; 1.0 highlights equipped loadouts and lists their upgrades on hover, which makes comparing builds at the lobby screen much faster.
- Vehicles are requested from the cargo screen, and 1.0 made the Blitseg summon instant instead of a three-second wait.
